Teen released after being arrested by armed police in Balmoral Road, Gillingham

A teenager who was arrested by armed police after officers were called to a disturbance at a house has been released pending further investigation.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested after officers were called to a home in Balmoral Road, Gillingham, shortly after 3pm on Friday.

People in the area said officers with guns also asked them to leave nearby Balmoral Park, while they dealt with the incident.

Police were also seen near Gillingham Railway Station at the time.

Officers said the boy was arrested on suspicion of carrying out public order offences and no weapon was found.

Spokesman, Amanda Wills said: "Kent Police received a report of a disturbance at a house in Balmoral Road, Gillingham, at 3.05pm on Friday.

"A 17-year-old boy was subsequently arrested.

"No firearms were recovered and no injuries were reported. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing."

This morning, police said the teenager had been released pending further investigations.
