Driver 'crashed into police car while trying to flee officers' in Maidstone Road, Chatham

A man has been arrested after allegedly crashing into cars while trying to flee police.

The driver reportedly smashed into two vehicles, including a parked police car, after officers went to talk to him at the BP garage in Maidstone Road, Chatham.

He is said to have hit the vehicles as he attempted to leave the scene.

The crash happened at around 3.30pm today.

A police spokesman said: "One man was arrested at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."

Witnesses reported seeing up to five police cars and a van at the scene, as well as forensics officers.
