Man allegedly raped in walkway next to Great Lines Park in Gillingham

A man has been arrested after another man was allegedly raped in an alleyway near Medway Maritime Hospital and the Great Lines Park in Gillingham.

Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate arrested a 45-year-old man as part of an investigation into the reported rape.

Police are still at the scene of the incident

The incident is said to have happened at about 1.30am on Wednesday, October 20 on the walkway next to the Great Lines between Marlborough Road in Gillingham and Longhill Avenue in Chatham.

The 45-year-old, of no fixed address, was arrested the next day in connection with the incident and was taken into custody.

Officers remain in the area as part of their inquiries into the rape.

Great Lines remained cordoned off today with a large police presence at the site, including a number of police vehicles.
