Man arrested after robbery outside NatWest in Rainham High Street

A man has been arrested after two people targeted a courier outside a bank.

At 10.36am yesterday cash was stolen from a courier outside NatWest in Rainham High Street.

The suspects made off with cash and fled by car.

Today police confirmed they arrested a 23-year-old man, from Grays, Essex, yesterday evening.

Spokesman James Walker said: "Detectives are conducting inquiries to establish the full circumstances and are seeking information from witnesses who are yet to contact Kent Police.

"They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw a black Nissan Qashqai in the Rainham High Street area at the time of the incident.

"Following the robbery, the vehicle was seen travelling in the Orchard Street area towards Parkwood and is believed to have had three occupants.

"Can you help?"

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information which may assist the investigation is asked to call Kent Police on 01634 792209 quoting 25-0439.
