Car crashes into bus stop in Luton High Street, Chatham after hit-and-run

A car careered off a high street and crashed into a bus stop following a hit-and-run during the morning’s rush hour.

The accident, understood to have involved two vehicles, happened in Luton High Street, Chatham.

Police were called at 8.24am today (February 11) but one of the vehicles had left before officers arrived.

A witness said: “There has been a hit-and-run car accident at the bend on Luton High Street.

“Someone has come out of the turning from Beacon Hill and not stopped, hit someone and they have crashed into the bus stop.”

There are no injuries and inquiries into the accident are under way.
