Car fire M2 London-bound between Medway services and Hempstead Valley

Crews are at the scene of a fire on the M2, which has destroyed a vehicle.

Flames were seen on the London-bound carriageway, between the Medway services and Hempstead Valley turn-off.

Two fire engines were used to extinguish the blaze, and no injuries have been reported.

Police spokesman James Walker said: "Police received a report that a car was alight on the M2 London-bound, between junctions 5 and 4.

"Officers attended the scene alongside crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the fire has been extinguished."
