Rochester: Child given to social services after found in lorry on Maidstone Road

A child has been taken into social services after he was found in the back of a lorry in Rochester.

Kent Police were called to Maidstone Road near Lankaster Parker Road on Friday, October 13 at 9:30pm.

On arrival, officers from the Special Constabulary found seven men in the back of the lorry and one child.

Police arrested a 42-year-old man for facilitation who has since been released due to insufficient evidence.

They contacted Immigration Enforcement, a branch of the Home Office responsible for enforcing immigration law.

Five men between the ages of 35 and 21 said they were from Iran and two aged 21 and 23 claimed to be from Iraq and Turkey respectively are now being processed by the Home Office.
