M2 crash leaves traffic queuing at Chatham and Rochester by Blue Bell Hill junction

A crash involving an overturned vehicle has caused long delays on the M2.

Big queues had been building after the incident near the Blue Bell Hill junction at Chatham and Rochester earlier this morning.

Traffic was held on the Londonbound carriageway after the incident at 9.15am.

Emergency services have been called to the scene including police, paramedics and the fire service.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a report a car had overturned on the London-bound M2, between junctions 3 and 2.

"Officers are in attendance alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service, and Kent Fire and Rescue Service, and traffic is currently being held to ensure public safety."

A fire service spokesman said three crews attended and used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof the vehicle and rescue one man.

He was taken into the care of paramedics but it has not been confirmed whether they suffered serious injuries.

The road reopened shortly after 11am.
