Delays on Bluebell Hill, Chatham towards Maidstone after a car caught fire this morning

Traffic is at a standstill on Bluebell Hill after a car caught fire this morning.

Firefighters from Medway station were called out just after 11.30am to reports a car was on fire on the hard shoulder on the Maidstone-bound carriageway A229.

Motorist Alan Watkins said: "Traffic is at a standstill all the way back to the M2 junction, the road is completely blocked."

Paramedics also attended and police are still on the scene helping to manage the traffic.

The fire was put out just before midday but traffic is still queuing in the area.
