AN OVERTURNED lorry on a roundabout on the Wainscott bypass caused huge delays for motorists yesterday afternoon and evening.

The accident happened on the A228/A289 roundabout at the bottom of Four Elms Hill.
Emergency services, including paramedics and firefighters went to the scene as small fire broke out close to the lorry after some diesel spilled onto the road.
The HGV was thought to be blocking the exit leading to Hoo Road and Hollywood Lane.
The driver managed to get himself out of the lorry without serious injury.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
A spokesman for Medway Police, said: “We received a call at 2.25pm to reports of a road traffic collision on Wainscott Bypass.
“A lorry has overturned by Liberty Park estate, the driver of the lorry had managed to get out of his cab.
“There was a small fire and what is believed to be diesel in the road.
“Kent Fire and Rescue Service, and South East Coast Ambulance Service are also in attendance.”
There are major tailbacks in the area, but the Wainscott bypass is still open.

ANOTHER accident in the Frindsbury also caused delays in the area.
A man in his 20s has been airlifted to hospital after being struck by a van in Handcock Close, just off Cliffe Road.
The accident happened at about 1.35pm and the area was cordoned off while police dealt with the incident.
The injured man is not thought to be in a critical condition.
