Detective seriously injured in assault at Medway Police Station

A detective was seriously injured in an attack at a police station.

The female police officer was attacked at the front counter of Medway Police Station, in Purser Way, Gillingham, at 3pm on Friday.

She was taken to a local hospital for treatment to facial injuries caused by kicks and punches.

She is now out of hospital and is expected to make a full recovery

Samuel Tesefay, of Thicket Road, Penge, was arrested on suspicion of assault and has since been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The 27-year-old appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court today and was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, June 10.
