Dog owners Jade Oram and Matthew Oram from Gillingham charged with GBH

The owners of a dog put down after it was allegedly attacked by a man with a samurai sword have been charged with causing GBH.

As reported in March, English bull terrier Dave was left with severe injures in Castlemaine Avenue, Gillingham.

On Saturday Jade Oram, 19, and her dad Matthew Oram, 45, were arrested over an alleged attack on Adam Ashurst in nearby Oak Avenue.

The pair appeared before Medway magistrates on Monday and were bailed.

Their cases were sent to Maidstone Crown Court to be dealt with on Monday, August 14.

Following Dave’s death, police arrested a 29-year-old on suspicion of causing criminal damage.

However, he was later released without charge.

It is understood Mr Ashurst has had to receive specialist medical treatment following the alleged attack.

A police spokesman said: “Jade Oram and Matthew Oram, both of Castlemaine Avenue, Gillingham, have been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.”
