A suspicious vehicle was found five miles away after some 13 police cars were spotted on a dramatic chase through a town centre.
Officers continue to hunt the occupants of two “suspicious” vehicles after a man reported his concerns as he travelled along Gravesend Road, Strood, in the early hours.
Police tracked down one of the vehicles and a dramatic pursuit unfolded.
One eyewitness told KentOnline: “At about 1am in Strood, we counted 13 police cars chasing one car as we sat in the McDonald’s car park [in Commercial Road].”
Following the pursuit, officers discovered one of the vehicles, which was empty.
They continue to hunt for the other vehicle and the occupants of both cars.
A police spokesman said: “We were called at 12.19am today to a report of two suspicious vehicles following a man as he drove along Gravesend Road.
“Following initial inquiries, officers located one of the vehicles.
“Following a pursuit, the car was stopped and seized near Hever Court Road, Gravesend. The occupants left the scene prior to the officers' arrival.
“An investigation is underway to locate the outstanding vehicle and occupants, and to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
