A former nursery nurse, who was regularly drinking a bottle of vodka a day, was found slumped at the wheel of her car near a shopping centre.
Police were made aware that a female motorist had come to a stop on a grass verge on Bluewater Parkway, near the shopping complex in Greenhithe, in May.
When they went to investigate they found Rebecka Tobin sitting in the driver’s seat of her Toyota Yaris, and after speaking to her they noticed her speech was slow and her eyes were glazed.
The 31-year-old was arrested on suspicion of drink driving on May 30, and back at the police station, further tests showed she was more than four times the legal limit.
Tobin, of Vicarage Close, Halling, was charged and admitted drink driving when she appeared in court in July and at the time, she was placed on an interim driving ban.
A pre-sentencing report was ordered, and she returned to Medway Magistrates’ Court on September 11 to learn her fate.
Rose Walsh, prosecuting, said: “A member of the public called the police as her car had stopped on the grassy verge of Bluewater Parkway.
“She was still in the driver’s seat when the police turned up and her speech was slow and her eyes were glazed and they formed the view she was intoxicated.”
Back at the police station, when given further breath tests, she gave a reading of 141 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath; the legal limit is 35.
Magistrates were also told Tobin had a previous conviction for driving without insurance, for which she received six points, and she had also been given three points on another occasion for speeding.
Sonia Antolin, defending, told the hearing a lot of work had been done to support Tobin since the incident to try and get her off booze with the court hearing, she regularly drank a bottle of vodka a day.
She added: “She used to be a nursery nurse for 10 years and wants to do that again, but had been abusing alcohol.
“She’s now not drinking a bottle of vodka and has swapped it for wine, and wants to work with probation.

“She has a lot of support but her mental health had not been looked into, and her grandparents died within a few hours of each other at different hospitals, and she suffers from that.
“Her good character is now lost, but this [offence] will help her to sort out her problems and get on with her life.
“She stopped the car [on the day in question] as she knew she wasn’t fit to drive.”
Magistrates told Tobin she was not going to prison for the offence, but did say it did pass the custody threshold because of the high reading.
They jailed Tobin for eight weeks, but suspended the term for a year.
She was also placed on an alcohol treatment programme for nine months and must attend 25 rehabilitation sessions.
The chairman of the bench said: “You have a chance, take it and work with probation.”
Tobin was also banned from driving for 32 months and must pay a victim surcharge of £154 as well as £85 court costs, and will pay what she owes at a rate of £20 a month as she’s claiming sickness benefits.
