Gillingham: Driver taken to hospital following crash in Hempstead Road

A driver has been taken to hospital with a head injury following a crash with a lorry.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Hempstead Road in Gillingham at about 7.40am after a van and lorry collided at Barncroft Drive.

The road was blocked in both directions will emergency services were at the scene.

The van driver has been taken to hospital for treatment to a head and leg injury.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called to a collision between a lorry and a van at 7.42am.

"Officers attended the scene alongside crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service and the van driver has been taken to a local hospital for treatment to a head and leg injury."
