Drivers delayed after car fire on A2 London-bound near Wainscott turn-off

Drivers faced delays after a car caught alight on the A2.

Flames could be seen engulfing the vehicle on the side of the London-bound carriageway near the Wainscott turn-off, shortly after the M2 becomes the A2, earlier today (February 25).

Emergency services say they were called to the scene shortly after 10.30am.

Two fire engines attended to put the flames out.

There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, due to an electrical fault.
