Fire crews called to balcony fire at flat in Cory's Road, Rochester

A person was taken to hospital after a blaze broke out on a flat balcony in Rochester.

Four fire engines were called to Cory's Road, part of the new Rochester Riverside development, just after 8.15am.

Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service were also called and treated one person for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze and left just over an hour later.

Crews believe the blaze started accidentally.
