A2 shut-off between Rochester and Gravesend after crash

A five-mile stretch of the A2 was closed this evening because of a crash.

Emergency crews initially shut off the entire London-bound side of the dual-carriageway between the A289 near Rochester and the A227 at Gravesend.

Traffic was reported to be at a standstill, but two lanes of the road later reopened.

The collision is understood to have happened near Cobham Services, between Halfpence Lane and Henhurst Road.

National Highways expected the road to have been cleared by 8.30pm.
