Chatham Town hosts football match against Bearsted for dad, Adam Thornton, who is battling bone cancer

A company are using an opportunity funded by a football match to raise money for a father from Lordswood who is battling cancer.

The fundraising event is taking place on Saturday 28th April to raise money for Adam Thornton, 37, who has multiple myeloma bone cancer.

Chatham Town FC are welcoming Joe Shilleto and Joe Carins from AllType Surfacing and Construction, good friends of Adam, along to their home match against Bearsted F.C. to raise funds for the father-of-one.

At just 37-years-old, Adam is facing into his fight with bravery and strength knowing that his wife Vicky, their son, Josh, and all of his friends and family are willing him on.

Event organiser, Joe Shilleto, said: “We are very grateful to Chatham Town FC inviting us to their home match on Saturday to raise vital funds for Adam through this difficult time.

“The family fun event will have face painting for children, the chance to take penalties at half time on the pitch and there’s lots of exciting raffle prizes to be won. All the money raised will really help Adam through his battle.”

Adam said: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to Joe Shilleto, Joe Carins and all involved in dedicating this fundraising event to me and to everyone who has been supporting me.

“It would be great to see as many people as possible at Chatham Town FC on Saturday.”

Tickets for the fundraising match will be available on the door at a price of £8 adults, £5 seniors and £2 for under 16’s.
