Fourth arrest following suspected murder under Rochester Bridge

A woman was arrested following the suspected murder of a man under Rochester Bridge.

The woman is in her 50s and is from Norfolk and she was arrested on Thursday, September, 20.

She has now been released from custody pending further inquiries.

She is the fourth person to be arrested in relation to the suspected murder of Peter Beale, 39, of Sittingbourne, who was found dead on the Rochester side of the High Street bridge on the morning of Tuesday, September 18.

Three men were arrested, one man in his 30s from Rainham was arrested on the night of the incident, but he has since been released without charge.

The other two, were arrested in Chattenden on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 19, one in his 40s from Chattenden and the other in his 20s from Belvedere have been released pending further inquiries.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who believes they have information about the man’s death, or anyone who heard or saw anything unusual in the High Street or Corporation Street area the previous night or during the early hours of Tuesday, September 18.
