Now that election campaigns have officially kicked off, parties have chosen the candidates who will stand for each constituency.

Here is who you can vote for in Chatham and Aylesfordon December 12.

TRACEY CROUCH (CON)

I'm 44 and live in Aylesford with my partner, Steve Ladner, and soon to be four-year-old son, Freddie.

I have been the MP for Chatham and Aylesford since 2010. I was appointed sports minister in 2015, which also included the portfolios for tourism, heritage, civil society, loneliness, lottery and gambling.

But I resigned as minister in November 2018 over the then Chancellor’s decision to delay the reduction in stakes on Fixed Odds Betting Terminals, their devastating impact locally being a driving factor in policy change.

I was offered a cabinet position in July by the new Prime Minister Boris Johnson but turned it down to be able to spend weekends with my family before my son starts school next year.

I previously worked for Norwich Union/Aviva before entering politics. I'm an FA qualified coach and managed a team of girls from when they were under 10s until they were under 18s at Meridian FC.

I'm very passionate about sport and the power of change it can bring to individuals and communities.

My favourite thing about Medway is the people, who say it as it is but I love its heritage as well, something that ought to be celebrated more.

I want to continue as the MP for Chatham and Aylesford as there are still so many things to do for the local area and I am not done yet fighting for change.

JOHN GIBSON (CHRISTIAN PEOPLES ALLIANCE)

I've lived in Chatham for almost 20 years. I’m 42, married with two sons and although born in London, grew up in Medway.

I’m a full-time Christian schools and youth worker and mentor at risk young people. I pastor GEM church (God's Elect Ministry) - a gospel church that meets at Sandling Village Hall.

I’m part of a prayer group that meets weekly to pray for Medway.

My favourite things about Medway are the historical sites such as Rochester Castle.

I love history and my hobbies include writing historical novels and also watching historical dramas and films.

I am standing as a Christian Peoples Alliance (CPA) candidate to implement our key pledges: to uphold democracy by leaving the EU with a clean break Brexit, support traditional Christian marriage and families, protect the unborn by reducing abortion with the aim of getting rid of it entirely.

We want to fight crime, help reform ex-offenders as well as create more youth activities, make tax fairer and helping the poor by introducing a turnover tax targeted at overseas companies where the proceeds will restore benefits previously cut.

I’ll give a voice to Christians.

VINCE MAPLE (LAB)

I’m proud to be standing as the Labour candidate for Chatham and Aylesford - the place I’ve called home nearly my entire life having grown up on Luton Road in the 80s.

I’ve served as a councillor for Chatham since 2007 and as leader of the Labour group for the past seven years.

Before focusing on local government service I worked for the GMB Trade Union representing workers across London and was a civil servant in both the Department of Work and Pensions and Home Office.

Undoubtedly my favourite thing about Medway are the people, from those who have lived here for a century to those moving here in the past few days, all of whom bring something different and unique to the collective of nearly 300,000 people.

Away from politics and other community roles I carry out, the vast majority of my time is spent with my wonderful 16-month-old son Ned and my partner of nearly 18 years, Mary.

Any other remaining time is split between enjoying live music, watching Chatham Town FC and Arsenal and singing the occasional karaoke tune.

I’m standing as I believe our community has been badly let down with a decade of austerity from the Conservative governments.

It doesn’t need to be that way. On December 12 people across Medway and across the country can vote for real change, vote for hope; vote for a Labour government which will truly stand up for the many, not just the few.

DAVID NAGHI (LIB DEMS)

Last year I was the Mayor of Maidstone and live in Maidstone. I'm 62 and have been self-employed since 21 running my own building firm.

I was born in the USA and have dual American and British nationality. I joined the Liberal Democrats in 1998 and have represented East Ward on Maidstone Borough Council since 2002.

I'm very supportive of young people and have been a youth worker, a volunteer at the Howard De Walden centre and been chairman of the Maidstone Sea Cadets unit for 14 years.

I've helped revive the Maidstone River Festival.

This election will be about three main issues: Brexit, the environmental crisis and the health service.

Of course if we don't get the first one right - by remaining in the EU - the other two will suffer.

People are fed up with MPs promising a lot of things and then not actually doing anything. They want someone who will get things sorted. That's me.

GEOFF WILKINSON (GREEN)

I am a building inspector who runs my own small business based in Tonbridge & Malling.

I have previously worked for Gillingham and Medway local authorities and know the area well, having lived in Kent for the past 20-plus years.

I am particularly interested in the built environment and have appeared in the press and on TV as an expert in fire safety following the Grenfell tragedy.

I am an avid campaigner for improved standards in new housing and resolving the conflict of interest caused by companies offering both building regulation and warranty and testing services.

I have also campaigned for better standards of energy efficiency and would like to see Passivhaus adopted as the future standard for all new housing.

I am a passionate supporter of small local businesses and believe that more should be done to help SMEs compete against the large global corporations.

I am a keen footballer and regularly play five-a-side on the all weather pitch in Snodland. I enjoy a real ale or a single malt before they are all gone.

I’m standing because, like so many people, I’m frustrated by the state of politics in this country and the lack of action on climate change.
