A well-known GP has died aged 41.
Dr Sharif Hossain worked at the 5,300-patient Highparks Medical Practice in Hermitage Road, Higham.
He was also the clinical lead for urgent care at Medway Clinical Commissioning Group and was heavily involved in opening Medway Maritime Hospital's new Urgent Treatment Centre last year.
Dr Peter Green, clinical chair at Medway CCG, said: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce that our friend and colleague Dr Sharif Hossain has passed away. He was actively involved in working to improve the health and wellbeing of the local community.
“Sharif will be greatly missed by all at the CCG as both a valued colleague and a dear friend to so many. Our thoughts are with his wife and children, as well as his family and wider NHS colleagues.”
Dr Hossain's death was sudden and the cause has not been confirmed.
