Christmas lights switch on: Chatham Central Theatre panto cast and kmfm's Rob Wills wow crowds in Rochester

Stars of the pantomime stage were on hand to entertain crowds at a Christmas light switch on.

The cast of Cinderella at Chatham's Central Theatre were joined by kmfm presenter Rob Wills who switched on Rochester's Christmas lights with the Mayor of Medway.

The drivetime presenter pushed the button with Cllr Habib Tejan, Mayoress Bridget Tejan and Derek Moran from Channel 5's Milkshake who is in this year's panto.

The High Street came to life with lights at the event last night (Saturday, November 16).

Medway Specsavers gave out free glow-in-the-dark glasses and balloons.

There was also performances from the Big Sing Choir and Shamalar.

It was the first in a series of switch-ons happenings across the Towns, kicking off the festive season.

It’s Chatham’s turn to sparkle on Saturday, November 23, outside the Central Theatre at 5pm with fun activities again from 3.45pm.

Minons Bob and Kevin will be joining kmfm's Andy Walker to turn on the lights in Gillingham on Friday, November 22.

The fun starts at 3.45pm, with the switch on taking place at 5pm in the High Street.

Andy will be paying a visit to Rainham on Friday, November 29 for another round of fun.

He will be joined by Shrek and Kung Fu Panda for the festivities. Rainham's switch on will also be at 5pm.

The Christmas Market returns to Rochester Castle Gardens from Saturday, November 30 where visitors can browse a variety of stalls for gift ideas and stocking fillers or relax listening to seasonal tunes while enjoying a glass of mulled wine. Wander through the Bavarian food village or take little ones to the funfair.

To ensure a “white” yuletide, there will be a snow machine, ideal for picture opportunities.

Every Friday, rides cost £1 and activities are half price.

Opening times are: Saturday, November 30, from 10am to 6pm; Sunday, December 1 from 10am to 6pm; Friday, December 6 from noon to 8pm; Saturday, December 7 from 10am to 7pm; Sunday, December 8 from 10am to 7pm; Friday, December 13 from noon to 8pm; Saturday, December 14 from 10am to 6pm; Sunday, December 15 from 10am to 6pm.
