Appeal for witness who saw man throw knife before arrest in the Hills Terrace area of Chatham

Investigators are appealing for a key witness to come forward who says they saw a man throw a knife away just before he was arrested.

Officers detained a suspect who had been seen acting suspiciously in the Hills Terrace area of Chatham at around 7pm on Friday, May 2.

Afterwards, the patrol was approached by a motorist who said the man had thrown a knife on the floor before his arrest.

A lock knife was seized and an 18-year-old man from Maidstone was taken into custody. He was later bailed pending further investigation.

The police are now appealing for the motorist who stopped to get in contact with them on 01634 792209, quoting 46/73160/25. Anybody else who witnessed the incident is also urged to call the appeal line.
