Sentencing of Breaking Bad-obsessed murderer who dissolved victim's body in acid delayed by psychiatric report

A teenage murderer who melted his victim's body in acid after being inspired by Breaking Bad will now be sentenced next year.

Bodybuilder George Knights, 19 – who was obsessed with the American crime drama - is to receive a life sentence after being convicted of murder.

But Judge Philip Statman has to decide how long he has to serve in jail before he will be eligible for parole after reading a number of reports.

A sentencing date has now been set for January 7 at Maidstone Crown Court.

The furious judge was told that staff are still hunting a psychiatric report which was ordered months ago - but neither prosecution nor defence barristers have so far seen it.

He was later told that the psychiatrist has told staff he needed until November 19 before completing his assessment.

But now the judge has ordered that the report be available by November 25.

He assured the partner of victim Stephen 'Ginger' Chapman, Rebecca Leader, who was present in court for the 15 minute hearing, that there will be no further delay.

The jury had heard how Knights, of Delce Road, Rochester, copied a scene from Breaking Bad in which a body is dissolved in a bath full of acid, replacing the tub with a stolen wheelie bin.

Judge Statman told Knights he was concerned with the level of danger the keep fit and martial arts enthusiast posed to the public.

He told him: "I find this case extremely disturbing" before ordering a psychiatric examination which will influence the minimum sentence Knights will have to serve before being considered for parole.

Knights - a self-styled shares trader - had turned his kitchen into a drugs factory to produce amphetamines.

He bought a £300 pill presser from China and stashed sulphuric acid in the fridge.

And the jury heard of his obsession with knives - having a dagger, a machete and a knife from Crete in his house.

He also bought and sold drugs, luring Mr Chapman to his home in October last year.

After plunging the knife into his victim's skull, he put the body into a wheelie bin, which he had carried up the road, before pouring acid over it.

Then he took the cocaine and other drugs and went partying - even making a selfie video boasting he would show it when he was in prison.
