Kent model and actress Kelly Brook is set to star in the second series of Celebrity Race Across the World.
Joined by her husband Jeremy Parisi, the pair will set out on an epic 12,500km adventure across the length of South America competing against three other teams on the BBC TV show.
They will be racing against broadcaster Jeff Brazier and his son Freddy, Ted Lasso actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen and Radio 2 host Scott Mills and his husband Sam.
The teams of two will begin their journey in Belém, Northern Brazil - the gateway to the Amazon - and will pass through five checkpoints across South America, to reach the finish line in the Andes, Frutillar in southern Chile.
The BAFTA award-winning show follows the competitors as they attempt to travel between the countries with only a budget of the equivalent of the airfare and without stepping foot on a plane.
Leaving behind their smartphones, internet access and bank cards, the teams will have to rely on the kindness of strangers, paper maps and their planning skills to reach the finish line.
Chief creative officer at Studio Lambert, which produces the show, Tim Harcourt, said: “After the phenomenally successful run of the first celebrity series, and more recently the fourth series of the regular series - we cannot wait to bring audiences along with us to the huge South American continent and its jaw-dropping scenery, in a race which will push our celebrities and their loved ones to their absolute limits.”
The first celebrity edition, which aired in September last year, saw the teams finding their way from Africa to the Arctic Circle.
In the regular series, competitors have raced from London to Singapore, across Latin America, from Mexico to Argentina, across Canada and in the most recent season, across Asia, from Japan to Lombok, in Indonesia.
Kelly Brook, who grew up in Rochester and previously had a £1.45million home in Grafty Green, near Maidstone, is not the first person from the county to take on the mammoth race.
This year, fans of the show watched Kent mother and daughter, Sharon and Brydie, battle to win a £20,000 cash prize.
The latest series of Celebrity Race Across the World will start at 9pm on Wednesday, August 14 on iPlayer and BBC One.
