The crash is understood to have happened just after 8am.

There were reports of congestion back to Junction 1 for Strood and the A289, with queues to and from Gads Hill Interchange, which was from an accident London-bound earlier on.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Officers and highway patrols attended to assist with vehicle recovery and clearing the road.

“Serious injuries were not reported.”

A spokesperson from the ambulance service confirmed one person was treated at the scene before being discharged.

Fire crews also attended, but no action was needed.

It is understood that the lane reopened at around 10am and traffic has returned to normal in the area.
