Lorry driver Norrie Hyde from Sittingbourne fell to death from M2 bridge

A lorry driver fell to his death from a bridge on the M2, an inquest has heard.

Norrie Hyde left his vehicle on the London-bound carriageway of the motorway near Strood on July 9.

Police had been called to concerns for a man's welfare earlier that afternoon.

The 50-year-old, of Oak Road, Sittingbourne, later fell 20 metres from the bridge.

Officers tried to provide first aid treatment but he was pronounced dead at the scene, the opening at the Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone was told.

A post-mortem gave the cause of death as traumatic brain injury due to a jump from a bridge.

The full inquest was adjourned until November 4.
