Police close Hoath Way in Gillingham due to lorry fire

Police closed a road in Gillingham after a lorry trailer caught alight.

Hoath Way southbound was shut between Sharsted Way and junction 4 of the M2 while emergency crews deal with the incident.

A police spokesman said: "A road closure has been enforced between junction 4 of the M2 and the roundabout at Sharsted Way to ensure public safety.

"Motorists are advised to expect delays and, where possible, consider using an alternative route."

Officers said one lane was reopened at around 7.05pm.
