Traffic has cleared on the M2 after an earlier accident involving three vehicles.

Both lanes of the M2 coast-bound from junction four for Gillingham and junction five for Sittingbourne and the Stockbury roundabout were blocked from about midday.

The vehicles were moved to the hard shoulder and traffic, which was held for about an hour, has been released.

Traffic officers and an ambulance were at the scene but no injuries have been reported.

At one point, there were tailbacks stretching almost four miles.
