Driver using hard shoulder to jump queues on M2

A motorist has spoken out about "selfish drivers" using the hard shoulder to skip traffic on the M2.

Dan Pattenden, who owns a construction company in Chatham, is frustrated with the occurrence, which he says has happened twice in a matter of weeks.

He said: “I’ve been stuck in standstill traffic on the M2 between the Chatham and Rochester turn-offs twice in the last few weeks, and both times a handful of people think it’s acceptable to jump on the hard shoulder and skip what’s probably a mile of traffic.”

The most recent incident took place on Monday, but Dan claims that the first time he saw it happen was far worse.

“Both times have been in the evening, around 6pm.

"I was stuck in traffic for about four hours and saw 20 or 30 cars do it. It’s selfish, and far from acceptable.”
