Lower Rainham Road, between The Angel pub and Three Sisters pub, Gillingham, to shut for roadworks

A busy route is to close for almost 10 days next month for roadworks linked to a new housing development.

Drivers will be unable to use Lower Rainham Road between The Angel pub and the Three Sisters pub in Gillingham from Friday, February 10.

The work will carry on through half-term until Sunday, February 19.

A Medway Council spokesman said: "The works are being carried out by the housing developer, McCulloch Homes, to install the new sewer connection."

A diversion route will be in place involving Station Road, High Street and Otterham Quay Lane.

People living the area have taken to social media to share their upset of the closure.

One commented: "Workmen are putting signs up by the Three Sisters, Lower Rainham Road will be closed for 10 days, just great."

Another said: "Well it was good while it lasted without the roadworks."
