Man accused of biting British Transport Police officer on-board train to Strood

A man was arrested after being accused of biting a police officer's arm after refusing to be searched.

Officers from British Transport Police were on-board a train travelling to Strood shortly before 5pm on Saturday when they noticed a passenger acting suspiciously.

A 43-year-old man was searched but began resisting and is then alleged to have bit an officer's arm.

Police say captor spray – which is similar to pepper spray – was then used to subdue the suspect before additional officers arrived.

The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and possession of Class B drugs

He was remanded in custody but has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
