Man arrested at Chatham Dockside after police chase

A man was arrested at Chatham Dockside following a police chase last night.

The pursuit started when officers attempted to stop a vehicle at 8.20pm in Pier Road, Chatham.

The driver, James McDowell of Watersmeet, Chatham, was arrested in the Dockside car park on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and drink-driving.

The 39-year-old was later charged with failing to provide a specimen of breath, dangerous driving and failing to stop for a police officer when required to do so.

He has been released on bail to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on March 17.
