Chatham man arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after Mercedes van collides with parked vehicles in Ewart Road

A 32-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a van crashed into parked vehicles.

Police were called after a Mercedes van was involved in a collision in Ewart Road, Chatham, at around 7pm yesterday.

A man from Chatham was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

A resident of the road said: "I was sitting indoors and I heard screeching outside and then a massive bang.

"I looked out and saw vehicles in the middle of the road.

"He had smashed into vehicles and done some considerable damage to a car and a van.

"I just saw the van stop outside and then someone walk off. Then the police turned up and took him away."

The individual remains in custody as enquiries continue.
