Chatham man Terry Derwin charged with robbery after victim attacked in Old Road

A man has been charged with robbery after a victim was attacked and had his rucksack stolen.

Investigators were called in after the incident in Chatham town centre early on Tuesday morning.

The victim was left with facial injuries in Old Road at about 1am.

Officers arrested Terry Derwin later that morning on suspicion of the offence.

The 47-year-old of Ordnance Terrace, Chatham, has been charged with robbery and appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

He was bailed to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on July 22.

A 32-year-old woman from Chatham also arrested in connection with the incident was released without charge.
