Man in custody after disturbance at house in Esplanade, Rochester

A man has been arrested after a disturbance at a property earlier this afternoon.

Police were called to an address in the Esplanade, Rochester, at about 2.45pm and arrested the man who is in his 20s.

The man was arrested on suspicion of assault and one witness who drove past said one man was seen on the ground.

The woman in her 40s from Rochester who didn't want to be named, said: "As I drove past there were two police cars parked outside with their lights flashing.

"A man, who looked to be a young man, was sitting on the pavement and the police officers were talking to him.

"He looked a bit dishevelled, I was not sure if he had fallen over or had been injured in some other way.

"When I drove back down about half-an-hour later, there was just one police car parked outside the address."

Police spokesman James Walker added: "Officers have attended the scene and detained a man in his 20s, who remains in custody as inquiries continue."
