Crews called to NCP car park in Chatham after man falls from building

Emergency services were called after a man fell 20 metres from a building in Chatham.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the NCP car park in Rhode Street, just before 1pm yesterday, to reports that a person had "fallen from height."

Kent Fire and Rescue said the incident occurred at a "disused building" and that two fire engines and a technical rescue team were sent to the scene.

Firefighters used ladders and small tools to access and rescue the casualty, who was passed into the care of ambulance crews.

South East Coast Ambulance spokesman Rich Airey also confirmed ambulance crews were called to the car park to reports of a fall from height.

He said one person was assessed and treated after being rescued by the fire service and was taken to Medway Hospital with injuries including a wrist injury.

The injured man had fallen approximately 20 metres and was due to be assessed for other potentially serious injuries.

Ambulance Crews were called to the same location later that day at 7.40pm, following reports of an assault. One person was taken to hospital.

Police have confirmed they are investigating a report that a man was assaulted by a group of young people in a car park in Rhodes Street, Chatham, at around 7.30pm that evening.

They said the victim, a man in his 40, sustained facial injuries and was taken to a hospital.
