Man seriously injured after being hit by car in Medway Road, Gillingham

A man was left with serious injuries after being struck by a car in a suspected hit and run this morning.

The victim, in his 20s, was taken to a London hospital after being hit by what police say could have been a black Ford Focus, in Medway Road, Gillingham, near Exmouth Road and Wyles Street.

It happened at around 8.45am and the driver of the car is reported to have failed to stop.

Officers arrested a 22-year-old man from Gillingham and he was later bailed until June 17.

The victim was said to be in a stable condition in hospital.

A vehicle which is believed to have been involved has been seized by police who are now appealing for any witnesses.

Police spokesman James Walker said: "Investigators have spoken with several witnesses but would like to hear from anyone with information that is yet to get in contact.

"They would also like to obtain any dash cam footage, or privately held CCTV, that shows a black Ford Focus being driven in Medway Road, or the surrounding area, between 8am and 9.30am."
