Man stabbed in pub in Gillingham

A man has been charged after another man was stabbed in a pub.

Police were called to an attempted armed robbery at a shop in Forge Lane, Gillingham, on Sunday, March 8.

At around 6.30pm, a man is reported to have threatened another man, in his 40s, with a knife and verbally abused him.

An hour later, an assault was reported to have taken place in the foyer of a pub in Will Adams Way.

A man sustained an injury to his back, consistent with a knife wound.

Police arrested James Gibson, 23 of no fixed address, on Friday, April 3, and charged him with attempted robbery, possession of a bladed object in a public place, racially aggravated harassment, threatening another person with a bladed article and grievous bodily harm with intent.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 6, and has been remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court at a later date.
