Work is taking place to install a digital drive thru and making changes inside the outlet as well meaning people will have to find an alternative destination for their fries fix.

Delivery and in-store collection areas will be separated as part of the work with McDonald's saying they hope to make ordering and collecting easier for customers.

The store has been closed with diggers moving on to the site to dig up part of the car park and seating area in front.

It is planned to reopen on July 19 with the digital drive thru being completed in August, a McDonald's spokesman said.

The digital drive thru is said to improve order accuracy and speed up the drive thru lane.

A new dedicated entrance for delivery orders will also be put in.

Meanwhile, a second Kent McDonald's branch is closed for two months while it is extended.

The popular restaurant in Sturry Road, Canterbury is expected to be shut until August 31 after work began last month.
