It is not expected to reopen until November 9.

It follows a number of McDonald's closures nationwide, and in Ashford and Maidstone, to make branches better geared up for delivery drivers from firms like JustEat and Uber Eats.

The chain has been introducing separate entrances or waiting areas for walk-in customers and couriers, to improve the experience for both.

The nearby Chatham branch was also recently shut for three days to have a new door fitted.

Meanwhile, Big Mac fans will be pleased to hear a re-opening date has also just been announced for the Greenhithe McDonald's, which will have a new drive-thru.

That is set to be up an running in December.

McDonald’s Strood Franchisee Gian Chahal said: "The new refurbishment to the restaurant in Strood is incredibly exciting for us and we’re looking forward to bringing the customers in Strood a more efficient restaurant experience and a brand-new space for customers to enjoy.

"We look forward to providing improved working conditions for our staff and welcoming our new and existing local customers to the restaurant.”
