He was last seen wearing a hospital gown, normally had a walking stick and sometimes used a wheelchair, the appeal said.

But today a police spokesman confirmed that Mr Miller had died on Wednesday.

He said: "Please be aware that Kent Police is no longer appealing for information to locate a 40-year-old man from the Medway area who we issued an appeal to locate on August 19.

"Officers have received notification that the individual died at a local hospital on August 21 in circumstances that are not suspicious."
