The biker, who was riding a white Yamaha, died at the scene.

Officers say the purple McLaren failed to stop but was later found and the driver was arrested in connection with the collision.

The suspect has been bailed to return to the police station on June 8, pending further enquiries.

The coastbound carriageway remained closed throughout the afternoon but reopened just after 9pm.

The serious collision investigation unit is carrying out inquiries and is urging anyone who saw what happened or has relevant dashcam footage to contact them.

Police say this includes any footage showing the “manner of driving from either vehicles prior to the collision”.
