Man remanded in custody over murder of woman in Richmond Road, Gillingham

A man has been remanded in custody until Wednesday charged with murder.

Benjamin Bowler, 40, of Richmond Road, Gillingham, appeared via video link, wearing a grey sweatshirt, at Medway Magistrates' Court this morning and spoke only to confirm his details.

The bench heard he was accused of committing murder on January 16 but no further details were given.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday.

Police were called to Richmond Road in Gillingham on Thursday afternoon where they found the body of a woman, aged 39.

Flowers have been laid at the scene paying tribute to the victim, called Kelly.
