The new owners are currently overseeing a major refurbishment of the grade II listed building and hope to open in about six to eight month's time.

The family-run company, which has a shop in Maidstone, specialises in bespoke German brands and boasts offering "classic, contemporary to designer uber chic" designs.

Director Les Harrison, who lives in Cliffe, said: "We are really looking forward to opening. There is quite a lot of work to do. We are planning to open up the back which apparently used to be an old motorbike museum.

"We love the charm of the High Street and we will be making sure our refit is in-keeping with the rest of the town."

KDH offers to design, make and fit kitchens using top brand appliances, such as Miele, Liebherr and Siemens.

It specialises in German Schuller and Next125 kitchens.

Nimbus has finally closed after owner Daniel Firth announced his retirement in November 2020.

Thought to be Kent's largest lighting store, it also sold a variety of unusual items – from vintage retro telephones to Betty Boop figurines.

But it was known for its extensive range of thousands of lights and shades – from table lamps to chandeliers – the business earned a glowing reputation over the years.
