Krystals Nightclub and Vanity Bar, which closed in 2013, was among the buildings on the empty site.

Kings Hill-based Provectus Holdsings Ltd has put forward plans to build 72 apartments across two blocks.

The proposals include undercroft parking for 38 cars, which would be accessed from The Paddock. There would also be electric vehicle charging points.

Under the plans, 18 of the homes would be affordable, either as affordable rent or shared ownership.

The site was once known as Manor Club and became one of Medway's most popular nightspots before it was shut with "considerable reluctance" following a court hearing.

As Krystals the venue hit problems when Medway Council refused to allow it to be changed from a members-only club to a nightclub and extend its opening hours amid fears over its "adult entertainment" offer.

But the club owner later won his battle on appeal and turned it into a popular venue before stepping away in 2013 due to ill health.

Medway Council is due to consider the plans by Friday, August 19.
