Railsimulator.com in Chatham changes to Dovetail Games as it aims to become the world's leading simulation game company

A video gaming company has changed its name in a bid to reach out to the global market.

Railsimulator.com had become known as the publisher and developer of train simulation series Train Simulator but will now be known as Dovetail Games.

Bosses at the Chatham-based company, founded in 2009, say the corporate rebrand signals its ambition to become the leading simulation gaming company in the world.

The firm has also hired former Electronic Arts and Acclaim Entertainment veteran Rob O’Farrell as executive producer, who brings 20 years’ creative experience.

The company is run by Paul Jackson, who was awarded an OBE for services to the videogames industry in 2010 and is a former vice president and managing director of Electronic Arts Northern Europe division.

Under its new guise, the business’ 55 staff aim to bring simulation products to various platforms including PC and games consoles.

Chief executive Mr Jackson, a Gillingham fan, said: “I’m delighted to be announcing the birth of Dovetail Games.

“We are still completely committed to our Train Simulator products and our extremely loyal fan base, but we know that in order to continue to grow our business we need to reach out into other new areas.

“This gives us the opportunity to explore new simulation opportunities beyond the world of trains.”

New recruit Mr O’Farrell said: “Not only are we going to wake-up the simulation genre but we want to set the quality benchmark.

“Using cutting-edge technology, our aim is to deliver realistic simulation experiences filled with fun and challenging gameplay, supported by breath-taking visuals.

“We want to take our players on an exciting journey and give them the tools to fulfill their gaming ambitions.”
