Pair released from custody after arrest in Peter Beale murder investigation in Rochester

A teenage girl and man arrested in a murder investigation following the stabbing of a man near a bridge have been released from police custody pending further inquiries.

The pair were taken in for questioning yesterday as part of a murder inquiry into the death of Peter Beale, whose body was found under Rochester Bridge on Tuesday.

The teenage girl, from Hove, and the man in his 20s of no fixed address, both were arrested in Brighton.

Their release today means everyone who has been arrested in relation to the case has been released.

Arrests include a man from Rainham in his 30s on Tuesday, September 18.

Two men were arrested in Rainham on Wednesday - one in his 40s from Belvedere and another in his 20s from Chattenden.

Next a woman in her 50s from Norfolk was arrested in Rochester on Thursday.

Police inquiries are still ongoing.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who believes they have information about the man’s death, or anyone who heard or saw anything unusual in the High Street or Corporation Street area the previous night or during the early hours of Tuesday, September 18.
