A pensioner who drove his car into another man at a gated residential park, which was caught on camera, had previously attacked another resident at the park.
Anthony Fowles deliberately drove into the man in Peninsula Crescent in Hoo, after wrongly believing the victim was trying to harass him.
Now, KentOnline can reveal he previously attacked another man at the park, which was also caught on camera.
It was reported earlier this month that Fowles had hit the pensioner with his car, in a deliberate attempt to intimidate him. The incident left the victim with ligament problems in his knee and resulted in him and his wife moving away from the site to get away from his attacker.
Fowles, a retired sports photographer, drove into the pensioner in December 2023 because he believed he was being treated unfairly by the park residents’ association, of which the victim was a member, in a dispute over service charges.
The 70-year-old appeared in court charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and after admitting the crime, he was issued with a 12-month community order and placed under curfew for six months and must stay indoors from 7pm to 7am, Monday to Friday.
Now, another couple who also used to live at the site have revealed how they too were forced to move from the park, within the grounds of Port Werburgh Marina and consisting of bungalow-style static homes for the over-50s, because of Fowles’ behaviour.
The couple say they were confronted and abused by Fowles on several occasions. Once, they had a bucket of water thrown at them while they walked their dog near his home. They added that they were not the only ones targeted by Fowles.
Matters came to a head in April 2023, when the couple were in their car at the site and Fowles came around the corner, hurling abuse at them through his open window.
The incident was so alarming that the wife took out her mobile phone to record it, as Fowles aggressively shouted at them and then tried to grab the man by his coat and punch him.
He not only calls the man a “c***” but also calls the woman a “f****** s***”, telling her not to walk her dog near his home and adding that he did not want “her sort near his home”.
He then leans out of his window with a clenched fist and with his other hand, grabs the pensioner while trying to punch him.
The couple contacted police and presented their video evidence to officers who later charged Fowles with assault by beating.
He appeared in court over the matter in July 2023 and was fined £147 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £59 as well as costs of £85.
Speaking exclusively to KentOnline, the woman, who didn’t want to be named, said: “After that incident, we too decided to move out of the site.
“He’s always arguing with people there, and we even have some video of him having a go at someone else.
“We now live somewhere else and it’s so much better. The other man he hit with his car also moved to the same place, and he and his wife are our neighbours - and they are lovely, as are all the other neighbours here.
“We feel free that he is no longer staring or shouting at us; he’s a very unpleasant man.”
